Robotic Dentistry: Enhancing the Surgical Experience

Before the launch of Yomi, the dental industry had not been able to benefit from the revolutionary technology of robotic assistance like many other sectors of the healthcare industry have. The Yomi is the first and only FDA cleared robot-assisted dental surgery system, and it’s right here in Connecticut.

About Yomi

The Yomi is a robot-assisted dental surgery system used to assist doctors in both the planning and surgical phases of dental implantation surgery. Through the pre-operative stages, Yomi will create a 360-degree view of a patient’s jaw structure, then a map that a doctor can follow during surgery. This increases the accuracy and precision of a dental implant compared to traditional free-hand methods.

During the surgical phase of a dental implant, the Yomi provides guidance through the use of haptic robotic technology, software, and multisensory feedback that helps to achieve the correct position, angle, and depth of the implant in accordance with the map. With this advanced robotic technology, dental implants can be performed faster and more accurately than ever before.

Workflow

From the pre-operative stages to patient recovery, the Yomi allows for a truly digital workflow. The planning and precision of implant surgery using traditional methods usually takes more time, but with Yomi patients can potentially have a same-day surgery and allows for fewer visits. This reduces wait times for patients, and provides a more efficient workflow for doctors to plan and execute implant procedures.

A Less Invasive Procedure

Yomi’s haptic technology combined with real-time visual guidance allows for smaller incisions during surgery. With more accuracy and precision compared to freehand methods during implant surgery, it can overall reduce the pain and recovery time for patients.

The advancement of robotic assisted-technology in dentistry has truly enhanced the surgical experience for both doctors and patients. With the implementation of robotic surgery, oral surgeons can improve the accuracy and surgical precision of implants, as well as provide patients with high-quality care and oral health.
